Celebrity Chef Bobby Chinn, the host of Discovery Channels World Cafe Asia and winner of Asia Televisions Best Presenter of 2007, will be making a surprise appearance here this Wednesday. Chinn is to appear at Shook @ Feast Village Starhill Gallery, and is going to prepare his award-winning Vietnamese cuisine for the a certain number of special guests.
Known as one of Asias spunkiest and coolist chefs, Chinn will also launch his first Cook Book entitled "Wild, Wild East" at the event. The book is available at Shook on the day at a special price of RM50.00 (Normal price:RM75.00). Chinn's first book, "Wild, Wild East," gives the most in depth account of this diverse and exotic cuisine ever published in English.
The book is jam-packed with recipes: There are classics such as Prawn and Papaya Salad and "Pho" Rice Noodle Soup, unusual dishes such as Rice Paper Wrapped Foie Gras on Apple Compote, Tamarind and Apple Jus, and plenty of Chinn's own unique dishes.
Special photography by award-winning photographer Jason Lowe and a personal touch from Chinn make this book an amazing culinary delight. This book has such a personal touch ranging from the story behind how he found out the recipe for the secret sauce for grilled chicken, and his off-the-wall tales of the more unusual foodstuffs and ingredients.
Whether you have been fortunate enough to taste his culinary delights or seen him on the TV show now with rave reviews and ratings, Chinn is a man whose reputation precedes him.
Bobby Chin, is the driving force behind World Cafe Asia and the restaurant bearing his name, is one of Asia's most colorful personalities and one of its most respected chefs. Half Chinese, half Egyptian, Chinn was born in New Zealand but raised in England. Coming from a family of great cooks, he has always been passionate about food. He has worked for a variety of chefs in San Francisco - Hubert Keller, Gary Danko, and Traci des Jardine - he has learnt his trade in the place where it matters - the kitchen.
Chinn's Wild, Wild East is an exciting adventure story for the palate. Wonderfully written, and complemented by beautiful photography, this book captures all aspects of Vietnam's diverse culinary culture. View video of Bobby Chin at work.
