Pickled pig lips, eh? Who eats these things?!
Ours came from cajun country. That's the area of the United States to which their popularity is primarily confined. Not being a southerner, Remy approached this food oddity with a bit of trepidation. Much like the tongue, lips are things that seem best unchewed. Even if they're not your own lips.
For the first time ever, the music on Food Oddities was not composed for the show. No, this song is from a friend of the show, Pamela Polland, who wrote and performed it back in 1968. She also wrote songs recorded by Vicki Carr, Linda Ronstadt and the Byrds, among others. We are truly honored!

Its only a sugar-based syrup, but to non-Britishreaders of British literature it seems so exotic. Remy found a canned cake made with treacle and decided to try it out. Its nowhere near as crazy as last episodes testicles, but then testicles never caused an argument around the Mad Hatters table. |
